Short Films:

Ahmed Oweis is a filmmaker known for his work on both fiction and documentary short films. His notable projects include “Abu Qardan,” “Fatima,” “Al-Tareeqa,” “Al-Ahlam,” and “King of the Night,” where he served as writer and director. He also directed, wrote, and edited “Al-Odbati,” and worked as a cinematographer on this documentary.

he also directed the feature films “Cairoke” and “Fokkak Mnni,” both of which are in the fiction genre.

Theater:

Ahmed Oweis has worked extensively in theater, with notable works including “Please Pay Attention,” “Meem in the Land of Women,” and “Talaat Ya Mehla Nooriha,” where he served as writer and actor. He also wrote and directed “Tin Nation,” and “The Sleeping City,” as well as “Malikwan,” both of which are poetic theater pieces. Additionally, he wrote “Love on the Ship” for poetic theater.

Awards & Honors:

Ahmed Oweis has received numerous awards and honors, including the UNESCO Award for Screenwriting and the UNESCO Grant for Directing. He won the Gold Award for Best Film at the Faiyum International Youth Film Festival and Second Place for Best Film at the Goethe Short Film Festival. His film “King of the Night” earned him a Special Award at the National Film Festival for Best Actor in a Short Film. He has also been recognized with several awards from the Cultural Development Fund for playwriting and theater direction, as well as the Supreme Council of Culture Award and Certificate of Appreciation for playwriting. Additionally, he received the Abdel Hai Adeeb Award at the Alexandria International Film Festival for screenwriting and multiple Certificates of Appreciation from the Swiss Arab Film Festival for short films.

Other Work:

In addition to his film and theater work, Ahmed Oweis has served as a Technical Consultant for the German documentary “Nile” (Egyptian Team), and worked as an Art Designer for advertisements in Hong Kong. He has exhibited his photography in Switzerland and published novels “Samarian” (2015) and “What Does This Have to Do with the Sky” (2020). Oweis has conducted artistic workshops in areas like children’s and adult acting, short film production, film directing, and screenwriting. He has also taught Film Directing at the Media Production City Academy and directed the advertising campaign for Al Azab Pharmacy (2021). His poetry collection “Lakhbata” was published in 2022 in Egyptian colloquial language.
